Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Askar Myrzakhmetov held a meeting on problems in agriculture in Almaty city and Almaty region.

The videoconference meeting began with discussion of issues of agriculture in Almaty region. Thus, the akimat voiced problems of water resources, animal husbandry and forestry, subsidizing of the industry.

The talks were focused on deep processing of coarse wool. As for today Almaty region has a workshop for primary processing of animal skin, but the workshop does not conduct deep processing.

"It is necessary to study existing technologies, and to allocate resources on establishing enterprises for deep processing of coarse wool. This issue is either of economic significance and social as well. Every village, every family has 5-10 sheep, therefore raw materials are almost not processed," A.Myrzakhmetov said.

The Minister of Agriculture instructed to study the world technologies on complete processing of coarse wool, and implement them in Kazakhstan.

At the meeting they discussed issues of agribusiness development by using potential of private farms.

Thus, representatives of the region touched upon target indicators of the region on development of agriculture. According to them, today the region has 136 milk collection points and 100 slaughterhouses. At the same time, taking into account these points, the question of reloading of the processing plants remains to be open.

The Ministry of Agriculture admitted that until the year-end it is planned to open 23 milk collection points in Almaty region and 29 slaughterhouses.

But the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the above mentioned points should be a basis for smallholders to unite in cooperatives.

"The main goal of "Employment Roadmap 2020" is to bring together villagers in cooperatives and ensure permanent employment, and only then we will decide on export issues, production facilities and other related issues," A.Myrzakhmetov informed.

The second block of the negotiations discussed issues of agribusiness in Almaty city, in particular, a lack of raw materials for enterprises producing oil and fat products.

A.Myrzakhmetov concluded that such negotiations in videoconference mode with the regions to be held on a regular basis, and problems of each region in agriculture field will be considered separately.
